Excursions

Every weekend, the children go on excursions and they also do an additional special activity. Bundoran and its surroundings offer a great variety of interesting places to visit. We vary some of the excursions every year, but some we repeat every summer.

WEEKEND EXCURSIONS IN IRELAND

Eagles Flying Bird Sanctuary

It is a sanctuary for birds of prey situated 27 hectares from Bundoran.  Besides the birds of prey, they also care for a great variety of animals that have been rescued and, in many cases, cannot return to their habitat. In 2007, the Irish Raptor Research Centre/Eagles Flying received the EU-Zoo accreditation.

Galway

This is the longest excursion that we take beginning with the bus ride to Galway that takes about 3 hours from Bundoran.  Galway is the third largest city in Ireland, but it has a very accessible center that is full of activity. Every time we go, we discover interesting and entertaining nooks and crannies. Some of the most outstanding places are: Eyre Square, Galway market (it takes place on weekends), St Nicholas Church, Galway Cathedral, Galway Museum, Spanish Arch and Salthill Promenade.

Gleniff Horseshoe

It is a 9.6 Km circuit in a road surrounded by spectacular landscapes.  It takes about an hour to travel and it is very closely tied to the myths and legends of the zone.  In its mountains one can sense the presence of the ancient giants: Tieve Baun, Trushmore, King’s, Ben Bulben and Benswiskin.

Glencar Waterfall and Lake

Glencar Waterfall is situated in Glencar Lough some 8 Km. from the city of Sligo.  It has a 15 m. fall that can be reached walking up a very scenic path. The children usually prepare a picnic and eat near the waterfall.

Ben Bulben

It is an emblematic mountain in Ireland.  It is situated near Sligo and Bundoran.

Sligo Town

It is about a half hour ride from Bundoran and it is the perfect place to visit and go shopping. It is small with an easily accessible downtown that makes it fun for the children who can walk, visit and buy gifts safely.

Castle Adventure Open Farm

It is a petting farm where they can see and touch animals and feed them. They can also try their hands at using bulldozers and other vehicles adapted for children.  This is one of their favorite excursions because they love to be with animals and play in the farm playground.

Sliabh League

It is a cliff situated in the coast of Donegal county, Ireland, in the Wild Atlantic Way which is in the south of Donegal.  With a height of 601 m. above the sea level, it is one of the highest cliffs in Europe.

Bundoran Waterworld
